DESCRIPTION:Summary of Mid Chilterns CAMRA Branch Meeting – 4 February 2026 \n\n Attendance & Administration\n\n\nMeeting held at the Grand Junction Arms\, Bulbourne.\nUsual officers present; apologies from Amanda Harvell.\nDeclaration: Chair employed by Tring Brewery.\nPrevious minutes: no matters arising.\n\n\n Branch Accounts\n\n\nBank & ledger balances: £2\,263.\nDebtors: £394 (2026)\, £240 (older).\nWinter Tapler advertising income due: £688.\nPotential total if all paid: £3\,585.\nTreasurer proposed:\n\nRemit £1\,500 to national CAMRA.\nRetain £500 for expected festival first-aider costs.\nInvoice advertisers before publication and require payment upfront (decision deferred).\n\n\nOutstanding issues:\n\nCrown & Sceptre (Bridens Camp) and Trekkers (Chesham) no longer advertising.\n\n\n\n\n Membership\n\n\n+2 new members\, 11 lapsed.\nBranch total: 638.\nNational CAMRA: 141\,767 members.\n\n\n Brewery Liaison Reports\n\nMad Squirrel \n\nHertford shop performing well.\nNew collaboration beer: Crimson Hart (5% red IPA).\nTwo new 250HL tanks installed; currently holding lager; future use for $umo.\nSupplying Craft Local pubs and Acorn Pubs.\n$umo keg now in 430 Wetherspoons.\n\nPope’s Yard \n\nFilming income increasingly important due to brewery/pubs downturn.\nSome stock of Abbey Flyer still available.\n\nTring Brewery \n\nMonthly special: Resus Red (4.2% amber).\nRaised £8\,426 for The Repair Shed.\nShop repairs ongoing after vehicle collision; temporary portakabin in use.\nPiggeries to screen Six Nations.\n\n\n Tapler Magazine\n\n\nWinter issue well received; judges disliked cover.\nSpring issue to include articles on Greek beer\, beer engines\, St Albans Festival\, new beer styles\, Oddfellows Arms.\nWordsearch: cask dispensing equipment.\nExpanding coverage to Leighton Buzzard Brewery.\nFront cover: Tring Brewery’s Piggeries bus taproom.\nPrinting deadline: early March; payment to Instaprint needed in advance.\nNew advertiser: Swan\, Stewkley; enquiry sent to Lamb\, Berkhamsted.\n\n\n GBG 2027 Selection\n\n\nSurvey deadline: 2 March.\nSurveyors assigned for Herts and Bucks pubs.\nReserves listed for both counties.\nActions: Pubs Officer to send forms; surveyors to return by 25 February.\n\n\n Pubwatch Updates\n\n\nReopened: Old Palace (Kings Langley)\, Trooper (Aldbury).\nRefurbished: Paper Mill (Apsley).\nPossible reopening: Hungry Olive (Chesham Vale).\nClosed: Lussmans at Five Bells (Berkhamsted).\nSaracen’s Head (Kings Langley) closed for refurbishment.\n\n\n Socials\n\n\nLeighton Buzzard crawl moved to 21 February\, starting at White Horse at noon.\n\n\n Beer Festival\n\n\nBusiness plan approved.\nFestival committee meeting: 25 February\, Full House\, Hemel Hempstead.\n\n\n AOB\n\n\nCAMRA Members’ Weekend & AGM: 17–19 April\, St Albans.\nTring’s Side Pocket for a Toad won Hertfordshire Beer of the Festival; presentation on 25 April at the Piggeries.\n\n\n Next Meeting\n\n\n4 March\, 8pm at the Pheasant\, Chesham.\nCertificate presentation to Jane for 30 years’ service.\n\n
